Plumbing…
…is the worst. But, today saw some masterful pipe wrenching and bending, along with vigorous vacuuming and serious swabbing, and we now have a second functioning toilet. Just in case.
As you can see, Squarespace is still treating photos badly.
Keep On Trikin'
A pleasant 7 miles or so on the Glacial Drumlin trail, on a very warm October day.
Kayak drying out in preparation for sanding.
On the down side, I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 15, and now the Squarespace app doesn’t work at all. (Come on Squarespace, get your act together.) So now, to do a blog, I have to go through the computer, with is more onerous. Blogs might be more brief until the tech issues are resolved.
Real Wisconsin Fish Fry
At Snug Harbor, Turtle Lake. Pretty good walleye and bluegill. Sequence after.
Gutters cleared of early leaf drop. Sunny and warm.
Boosted
Kind of a crazy day, what with basement remediation, window replacement, and truck to the shop (again), not to mention haircut. No naps for the wicked. Nice morning rain, though damp and too warm after.
Turtle in the prairie, a long way from the pond
I think I forgot to mention that we also got our Covid booster shots.
The Last of the Pie
Morning walk, long forenoon bike ride (both of us), afternoon hike up Bald Mound, and tuna steak with homemade pesto pasta for dinner. Settling back in to our boring routine.
Note: Squarespace has updated their app, and now photos appear stretched horizontally. Once again I’ll have to help them fix the software.)
Dealing With Issues
Most flood problems resolved and a hair cut scheduled. Fired up the e-bike and took it for a spin. Sue has been even busier. But it feels good to be back, considering it is October.
Back Home…
…and unloaded. Basement nicely cleaned, and dry.
Home for refinishing
Cedar, Leelanau, Sleeping Bear
Exploring, droning, hiking, and an extremely tasty breakfast at M22 Market.
Stopover At The Habes…
…Aguascalientes late start.
A Rolling Stone…

So we are pretty much road ready.
Preparing To Depart
Windrider hauled, cleaned, and bedded down for winter. Last garbage run. Things sorted and stacked and ready for loading.
And later, a little droning at MurrayAndElaine’s.
Hard to find their cottage amongst the trees
Dinner Guests
Kerry (our builder) and Sandra here for homemade pizza, followed by Sequence. Ladies won.
Below a few photos inside and out.

Working On The Chain Gang
After a healthy dose of blueberry flapjacks (with local syrup) we helped repair Serendipity Lane (which was discombobulated by the most recent bungled grading).
Beautiful weather, and a chance to meet the neighbors. A little later we decided to go for a sail, only to have the fine weather turn foul just when we got to the boat. Went paddling/rowing instead.
Breakdown…
…about 2 miles east of Gore Bay. Engine over heating. With stops and starts we made it to the Chevy dealer in town. Broken hose clamp draining all the coolant. Thanks to great service we are back on the road. Feeling lucky; could have happened in the mountains.

Mixed Bag
Pinebox departure; big dead ash tree dropped and chopped; beautiful, long, chilly sail.
View of the property from the Windrider. Photo by Sue. Fire in the stove tonight.
Chicken Dinner…
…before tomorrow’s departure of Mobile Pine Box, a recapitulation of the dinner on the day of their arrival. It’s been a short summer, as was emphasized by today’s rain and chill.
Above, what I think is an eastern milk snake trying to find some warmth among the rocks along the shore. Could be a northern water snake, however.
Morning Cold And Damp
…but clearing up by afternoon. Wind blown out. Back to calm and quiet. Autumn color beginning on the bluff.
Frost biting
Three Day Blow…
…just winding down, and with it the roaring of the surf.
Walks in wind and rain, and a maple candy and coffee from Chocolate Works.
Very Fresh Air…
…and lots of it. Downright cold. Morning fire and evening fire. I like this weather once in a while.
