Extreme Fun
Too busy to blog. More later.
Engine Trouble
But, the mariners, being sailors with a sailboat (and there being some wind) made it home in fine fettle, and had a great voyage overall...
Bon Voyage
And, in a freshening SW breeze, Heliotrope and her interpid crew departed for the Benjamin Islands.
Which, left Sue and me to our own devices. I was able to sneak in a Windrider cruise, out around Gooseberry, then all along the eastern shore of Mudge Bay down to the marina, then around the marina rocks, and then, beating upwind, back home. Maybe 15 delightful miles, maybe more. Never met a faster boat.
Missed One
Martin playing hard with Katie and Will
Remembered blog when up in the travel trailer. Pleasant day, mix of clouds, thinning away, permitting kayaking and windriding, and even some swimming.
All Day Rain
Pouring in the morning, pouring in the evening, pouring at supper time. The cousins got in a trip to Gore Bay, a visit to the marina (where ice cream was available), and a bit of kayaking in between cloudbursts. Had to play bags on the entry porch...
...and ride bikes in the kitchen...
But, with a fire in the grate, and homemade pizza in the oven, it was really not that bad.
Cousins
Cousins Lisa, Luke, John, and Martin have arrived—all the way from Stillwater, MN. Katy and Will are beside themselves with excitement. The cousins are competitive sailors, so we have already been out orienting to the Windrider. Earlier in the day, before their arrival, we took Heliotrope for an hour's cruise across the bay and back in gusts to 25 knots. Good shakedown.
Trip to Mindemoya, right by a field of rapeseed (canola).
Gigantea
Lovely, all-night rain. Followed by fog, but then a brisk west wind chasing all the humidity away. Expedition to Perivale Gallery (where Tony and Ab bought several pieces of very fine art) and then on to Providence Bay. Mimi and Bubba had to leave immediately on arrival in order to make it back for the annual Serendipity Lane Road Committee meeting (and pot-luck [topped off with the best cake ever made {by Glenn Lewis, aka Santa Claus}). (In point of fact, the road is in good shape and the meeting was without incident.)
Mimi found some extraordinary hand marionettes at the gallery, so Katy ended up with a penguin and Will with a monster named Gordon. While Abby and Tony were negotiating art, the puppets chased us all around the Perivale grounds.
Nice perennial garden at Perivale also, including this specimen of Japonica gigantea, an interesting plant.
Quiet Day
Ab, Tony, Katy, and Will went horseback riding at Honora Bay, and then to lunch at the Anchor Inn in Little Current, and weren't back until late afternoon.
Bright morning clouding over with the threat of rain and thunderstorms, though nothing significant as of yet.
Image from yesterday, courtesy of Mimi, as have been most recent photos.
And then there was a campfire.
Six Ways to Sunday
One of those days when absolutely everything kept happening at almost exactly the same time. Brisk south-east wind which did permit some good Windrider sailing. The highly anticipated bags game was interrupted by dogs, namely Pax, who gets overly stimulated by Lacy and Rev's roughhousing. On one of his flying leaps he tilted Ab's lawn chair and toppled her over backwards. The only thing that didn't happen today was the scheduled Pinebox gravel delivery.
